Overview
Funds for the NFGC's seventh year were released in August 2009 for the period of performance 8-26-09 through 9-25-10. Funding was provided per the FY'08 Defense Appropriation.
During FY'08, the NFGC will welcome two new funded partners:
- The University of Michigan Cancer Center (UMCC), "Center for Genetic Origins of Cancer"
- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The first research project for UNC, "Advanced Preclinical Strategies of Cancer Therapeutic and Diagnostic Discovery," opened in August 2009 and will be led by C. Ryan Miller, M.D., Ph.D.
UMCC and UNC will join our existing partners, Moffitt Cancer Center, Vanderbilt University, Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center, and Karmanos Cancer Institute.
During year seven all of the funded NFGC partners have agreed to focus a portion of R&D funds on one or more collaborative projects focusing on ovarian and lung cancer. The first project, "D.R.U.G.S. (Drug Repurposing Using Genomic Signatures)" was opened August, 2009.
The 7th annual meeting of the NFGC will be held September 29-October 1, 2009 in Clearwater, FL.
